Kala Desert Storylines ‘BushFoods’ Soprano Ukulele featuring artwork by Arrente Artist Magaret Bloomfield.
This collaboration began when Chris Martin (CEO of Martin Guitars) visited Australia and expressed his admiration for Aboriginal art. That conversation set off a chain of events that eventually led Greg Cooper (Jacaranda Music Australia) to connect with Keringke Arts, a renowned community art centre in Santa Teresa, about 100 km southeast of Alice Springs.
From there, three incredibly talented artists, Margaret Bloomfield, Evelyn Young, and Chantelle Mulladad, worked with Keringke Arts to create the stunning artwork featured on each ukulele. Jacaranda have signed contracts with Keringke Arts on behalf of each artist, and a royalty from every ukulele sale will go directly to them. Kala in the USA will also be paying royalties once they launch the series internationally in December.
Each ukulele comes with a swing tag telling the story behind the artwork. These aren’t just instruments; they’re authentic works of art that celebrate Aboriginal culture, storytelling, and connection to Country.
These ukuleles feature a mahogany top, back and sides, and include a Desert Story Lines Logo Bag.
